Long before the Board ever levies a fine, the Act reshapes ordinary commercial life. Four consequences arrive first.
- Your customers will ask first.Banks, multinationals and large enterprises are writing DPDP warranties, audit rights and indemnities into vendor contracts. A supplier that cannot answer the questionnaire loses the contract, not an appeal.
- Transactions will test it.Investors, lenders and acquirers now examine data protection in due diligence. Gaps return as price reductions, indemnities and conditions precedent.
- Complaints need no lawyer. The Board functions as a digital office. Any individual your grievance channel has failed may take the matter there.
- Repetition can close the door.Where an organisation has been penalised on two or more occasions, the Government may, on the Board’s reference, direct that its service be blocked to the public.
