The lifecycle

E-sign tools handle the last 20%. Legatio handles all of it.

Most platforms meet your document when it's already written, already filled, and already addressed to the right person. Legatio starts earlier and finishes later.

  1. Build from your own documents or from lawyer-drafted templates in the library. Edit in a full document editor, drop in placeholders for anything that changes per signer.

Draft

Build from your own documents or from lawyer-drafted templates in the library. Edit in a full document editor, drop in placeholders for anything that changes per signer.

What's in the platform

Built for the way documents are actually executed in India.

  • Document editor with placeholders

Edit DOCX files directly in the browser. Drag placeholders — name, date, amount, clause — onto the page; no code, no variables to learn. PDFs can be converted to editable or kept as fixed layout.

  • Multi-party signing, sequential or parallel

Set the signing order per document. Add, remove or reorder parties while a document is live. Everyone sees the same status.

  • Amendments without restarting

Change a document after it's been sent. Signed parties are told what changed and re-confirm; nothing is lost.

  • Bulk send

Upload a CSV, get one copy per recipient, one signature each. Appointment letters, bonds, NDAs, consent forms — thousands at a time.

  • Counterparty self-fill

Mark fields as recipient fills this. The signer completes them in a side panel before signing, so your team never retypes data.

  • Template library

Lawyer-drafted templates for the documents your industry uses most, plus your own templates stored and version-controlled.

  • Identity-verified signing

Government ID checks on the signer, before the signature, recorded on the certificate.

  • AI-assisted drafting and review

Summaries, clause suggestions and plain-language checks.

    Premium and above
  • Teams and entities

Multiple business entities, departments and roles under one account, with per-team visibility and approval steps.

    Enterprise

Also: in-app notifications and status flags, Google sign-in, email + OTP access for counterparties, 8-year retention, and redlining and negotiation — coming soon

Sign methods

Five ways to sign. You choose which one each document gets.

The signing method is fixed per document by you, so every party signs the same way and the certificate is consistent.

What it is

OTP-based signature linked to the signer's Aadhaar, issued through a licensed provider

Use it for

Employment letters, bonds, loan documents, anything you may need to enforce

Aadhaar eSign and DSC carry full evidentiary weight under Sections 3A, 4 and 5 of the IT Act, 2000. Drawn, uploaded and typed signatures are valid electronic signatures and are best used where identity has already been verified.

Identity verification

Know who signed before they sign.

Verification runs before the signature, not after a dispute.

  • Individuals

Aadhaar (with OCR), PAN, Driving Licence, Voter ID.

  • Businesses

GST, Udyam/MSME, TAN, Passport, and CA/CS registration numbers.

  • On the certificate

Verified name, ID type, timestamp, IP address, signing method and the signature certificate reference — attached permanently to the document.

  • Mismatch handling

If the signer's name doesn't match the Aadhaar record, the document is held and your team is flagged in-app. Nothing proceeds silently.

Vault, audit and retention

Every document, retrievable in seconds, defensible for eight years.

  • Encrypted vault

AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, hosted in India.

  • Immutable audit trail

Every view, send, fill, sign and amendment is logged with actor, time and IP. The log cannot be edited.

  • Up to eight years of retention

Complimentary. Shorter retention available on request for teams with their own data-minimisation policies.

  • Dual-OTP termination

Ending a document before completion requires OTP confirmation from two authorised people — a kill-switch nobody can trigger alone.

  • Instant retrieval

Search by party, date, template, status or your own reference, and export the document with its certificate.
